Paid 200 bucks for some 2 year old kaplan books. Supplemented with adaptibar, which was 350 i think. Passed with flying colors. Life sucked for 3 months though.

I paid $150 for the previous exam's BarBri and Conviser sets. Then I went to Mexico for a couple of months, where I surfed and studied on the beach. Came back for the February bar, breezed through it.

It was cheap. A home study course. Micro mash I think? Maybe $500 maybe less??

Then for the next bar I bought BarBri outlines off someone for $125. Passed both on the first try. I never understood shelling out big money to BarBri to watch videos.

Themis for like 900ish? You can probably do old outlines if you're diligent and there's no weird changes in your state (e.g. NJ switched to UBE, so maybe not?) Otherwise, Themis is the way to go for cheaping out but the same effect. Besides lectures and outlines (as guidance), the rest is not worth the cost, IMHO.

I paid about a grand for micromash because of the "pass or your money back" guarantee they had at the time. It's now defunct, having been bought out and then shut down by West (which owned barbri at the time). But when it was available, it was basically an adaptibar type software (which was outstanding) bundled with mediocre outline books and essay tutoring.

If I had to take a bar ever again, I'd probably just use adaptibar. 90% of essay topics are MBE subjects anyway and a really good MBE score provides a lot of cushion against low essay scores.
