Got one of these in that mail last week. I guess I didn't come to a complete stop when turning right on red. Came from a company in AZ (alleged violation happened in TX). Fine print clearly states that it is a "civil penalty" and will not be reported on driving record and no points can be assessed. I had one of these a few years ago in a different city and I just ignored it. Got a letter every few months for a while but eventually that stopped. I was never sued, no collections, nothing reported on credit history. I'm considering doing the same with this one but figured I would ask on here how others deal with these.

I received 2 tickets back when Newark, NJ had red light cameras. I paid my fines and moved on. They were only $55 or around that amount.

Seems like a scam. A small town was sued over this and had to pay back all the fines on the basis that there was no due process.

$55 in New Jersey????!!!! I'd gladly pay that. In California they are near $500, thus causing a ton of people to slam on their brakes and cause a butt load of accidents. Someone just died in our city racing one of these on a left turn; if I got that case I would sue the city, the contractor and Cal Trans (California.)

Jesus that is highway robbery. They stopped operating the red light cameras in Jersey after public outcry.

They did the same in Long Island after outcry over school speed zone cameras. Slowing down for schools is all good, but they had one of the highway service road where no one with a brain would ever be in the street and people routinely go 55-60 miles an hour.
