The people that run this operation are meaner than wharf rats.

Consider:

""Currently, students enrolled within 120 days of a schoolís closing are eligible to have their loan balances wiped off the books.

If the law school closes, but does not announce it soon, students would lose the ability to have their debts canceled."

The students they purport to care about hit the lottery if the school closes now rather than later (it's going to close), but these scoundrels will do anything to get that gravy train back running.

The good news: "Depending on what the investigation yields, Mr. Stein said, the attorney generalís office could initiate legal action seeking financial relief for students and could also impose civil penalties."

This could impact the broader infilaw operation.

If they are current students they weren't swindled. They were greedy and stupidly arrogant. Let them suffer. Do not give them a penny. Use that money to repair roads and fund a community center in Charlotte.

I wonder if schools have to carry insurance (similar to homeowners carrying mortgage insurance) to reimburse the student loans which are written-off.

Maybe the Charlotte students can transfer to La Verne. My nephew tells me it's only a few minutes drive to the Santa Monica Pier.
