My friend wants love history and wants to work as an US Attorney. He has a 4.0 GPA with a European history major from a private college

Don’t discount the burgeoning “History PhD Advantage” market:

By the way, is it just me or does the “professoriate” sound like some kind of mafia?

Can't help but laugh at that article bringing attention to a truly insignificant decrease in history phd's. pathetic job market even making law look good by comparison and that's saying something

"...maybe we will be successful at increasing the presence of history Ph.D.s in more diverse sectors of the economy, and within academia itself, as well -- entry-level, administrative-type jobs and other professional jobs in higher ed, but not teaching.”

LOL - 5 years of post graduate work and they count it a success if PhD's end up in entry level secretarial roles? It's not exactly a mark of success to be a college graduate and end up in such a position - I'm pretty sure a GED is the only qualification.

"Hey, Dr. Smith, can you call maintenance? Johnson clogged up the men's room toilet again!"

I know a chick who has a Ph.D, I think is psychology, and all she can do is get admin assistant type work. She could be a model, at least when she was in her 20s. She's still incredibly pretty, just can't get anything more than admin type work... I guess she's waiting for a millionaire to come along.

no, I don't think she ever got any psychology job.. Don't know about licensing.. Maybe it's not psychology, but it's a ph.d in something, I know she started in psychology... does admin work.

Maybe it was non-clinical psychology, which won't get you a license.

um. thanks for the contribution. What's odd is that she's my best friend's sister. Even even though she's 36-37 now, whenever we go out, we all got free drinks because she's pretty. If we are at a bar, and there's a line, she knows that she should go get the drinks because they'll serve her first, and likely won't have to pay.
