I graduated from a Third-Tier law school 10 years ago. Back then, the legal industry hadn't tanked. Jobs were out there but I simply didn't have a feel for the law. Barely made it through law school and three failures at the bar exam just buried the legal career (and my ego for a while.) After my last bar exam failure - 4 years past graduation - I got a job selling eDiscovery software. I've made a pretty good run since then in tech - moving on to Security software.

As I read stories of good people grinding away at doc review or sh!tlaw, I can imagine eDisco sales to be a decent alt. You're well spoken, persuasive, tenacious and you've got the law background. All the basics are there. Sales may not be the most preftigous gig, but it's less stressful than sh!tlaw, a whole lot less boring than doc review and if you're good at it, you can make decent money.

I’d imagine sales or not a place for someone like me with extreme social anxiety. Seems to me if you are good at sales you’d be good at being an attorney doing attorney work and not doc review

2014 at a Southern California eDisco vendor, inside sales - yes telemarketing - 60k base 60k commission. Most reps were ~80% of plan.

You make it sound like doc review nation would actually take proactive steps to get out of doc review...
