I have an interview next week for an "underwriting attorney" position which would involve preparing underwriting reports and fact investigation in PI cases. What exactly would this job involve and is it more or less doc review?

Underwriting in insurance is the process of setting premiums and deductibles appropriate for the risk involved in the coverage and marketplace dynamics. I don't know if that helps - underwriting and PI claims investigation are pretty different areas of insurance law. Perhaps you'll be evaluating past claims to assist in determining how much of a risk a company poses.

No clue. Did you read the job description and look through job ads for the same kind of gig?
