Does anyone know what kind of procedure the WC Fraud Inspector General uses when they investigate for fraud? Do they actually depose/interview the person they're looking to charge?

IME, they send someone out to follow you and catch you doing things you said you are not able to do.

Normally they have an investigator surveil you and haunt your social media to catch you slipping.

In the great Democratic People's Republic of California the investigators are called AOE/COE investigators, arising out of employment, course of employment. These people will follow the workers' comp "applicant" not called a "plaintiff" around and video tape them. Like going to the doctor's office or working on house work when the applicant says his back hurts. These reports are discoverable "sub rosa" and have to be sent by the workers' comp defense attorney to the applicant's attorney. These videos can be sent to the PQME (Panel Qualified Medical Examiner) or AME (Agreed Medical Examiner). They will then review and adjust their WPI rating. Solid videos to watch for entertainment value, though not worthy of popcorn and Coke.
