Just kidding! He went to Cooley. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Cohen_(lawyer). Well, this does seem to change things.

Just came across this article from Daily Kos on the subject: https://m.dailykos.com/stories/2018/3/10/1748050/-Trump-s-Lawyer-Michael-Cohen-No-Legal-Eagle

DailyKos insulting a law school, even a particularly rotten one, seems to ring hollow, right?

No insults of Cooley ring hollow.

Is there a medicine equivalent of Cooley? I feel like it drags the whole profession down that such low-tier schools are allowed to exist.

I was riding the subway in NYC, and I saw an advertisement for a medical school that took you without having to sit for the MCAT.

I would say THAT is the equivalent.

How am I not surprised that Cohan graduating from Cooley??

Regardless, I could see how someone like Trump would use someone like Cohan to make problems "go away."

And, for his part, Cohan did pretty well for himself .... until now anyway.

It's an interesting story. We'll see what happens ...

Hate on Cooley all you want, it's deserved, but he obviously did a lot of things right to end up as the president's attorney. Well... until he ends up in jail that is. But he had a pretty great run as an attorney for awhile there.

He's not in jail, and I seriously doubt he'll go there.

Worst case scenario he'll get a pardon and a lucrative deal doing commentary on Fox News.

I would think the NY Attorney General and Manhattan DA might want to have a word with him immediately following said pardon. And there are no Club Fed minimum security camps in any state's penal system.

Yup. This is trump’s fire mueller/pardon everyone problem. If he does it, all that happens is everything goes to the NY AG and trump ends up dying in NY state prison along with most of his flunkies.

Cohen's not a bad looking guy. He knows he won't last in prison, so he'll turn on his client. The Trump end is near.

So they had no evidence to get Trump on their fake Russian story, so they decide to raid his attorney on the pretext of a campaign finance violation. If they do manage to take Trump down, I will consider myself disenfranchised. My vote stands to be been nullified. Trump is extremely flawed, but there is no other option if a citizen takes a position against unfair trade agreements and open borders. The Republican and Democratic Parties stand united in their will to screw the United States. I believe that the Senate Republicans may Caesar him, and when that happens the truth will be clear that we do not live in a Democratic Republic at all. It is becoming apparent that under no circumstances will any opposition to the one party policy will be tolerated.

I, for one, kept nothing in my records that would incriminate my clients. I do not record, nor do I take notes of sensitive communications with clients. I take those communications with me to my grave. I'm a lawyer, not a customer service line that is recorded for quality assurance and training purposes. I hope Cohen had the same policy.

You can hate Trump all you want, but any real lawyer is disgusted by these turn of events. Dershowitz is a real lawyer and he understands what is going on.

I grant you that there is no way to know what the FBI has on Cohen. I have heard news reports that Cohen is being investigated for wire fraud, money laundering, and violation of campaign finance laws as to how the settlement payment was made to the prostitute. Someone has probably leaked what was in the warrant application.

Robert Mueller was commissioned to investigate Russian involvement in the 2016 election. Sure, if they find evidence of other crimes they can investigate and pursue, but it is clear to me that the Mueller investigation is based purely in politics. Many other alien governments are involved in attempting to effect our elections. This is the price you pay for an open society with free speech. Alien actors can come in and drop propaganda. Also, the Supreme Court ruling in the Citizens United case has essentially established PACs as money laundering vehicles for alien money. None of this is specific to Russia, or specific to Trump, that is why this thing is a politically based investigation and a farce.

If you were to subpoena any PAC and determine its donors, and then investigated where those PAC donors got their money, inevitably you will find that it was alien money. Also, most of the large corporations now are multinational in character and ownership, yet they can donate unlimited amounts of money to these PACS.

All roads lead to Rome. Even state political offices are flush with alien money.

Being a prominent lawyer from a low-tiered school is nothing new. It is more of an issue that people buy into it. "Hmmm, I went to Cooley, therefore, I can only be a PI or family law lawyer. Doc review may be better than that."

Don't expect any lower tier graduates or higher tier grads with less than stellar law school performance to take note. They would rather complain and click responsive and sit in the basement last cleaned 20 years ago while the PM bloviates about a cap on using the mensroom than look for inspiration from Michael Cohen (not referring to his criminal case, just his basic career success) about being successful.
