I'm familiar with it and I know a couple people that work there. One works in the healthcare department and another (who I don't know as well) works in the insurance group.

We work opposite their insurance department relatively frequently for physician audits and investigations, and probably some other stuff too. I recall hearing that their biggest client is Geico, which wouldn't surprise me. They bill themselves as a full service firm, but their bread and butter is definitely insurance.

I actually interviewed there for their no-fault department after I graduated. The two junior partners who interviewed me first were kind of douchey and were bragging that they had billed 3000 hours last year, or some such nonsense.

As far as reputation, they're well known on Long Island. I've never heard it's a great place to work, but I've never heard anything terrible either.

I’ve heard it’s very dependent on what group you work with, etc. The office on LI is nice.

I'm also interested in anyone's opinion on the firm. I know it depends on the practice area, but I'm local to them, and have not heard much regarding pay, lifestyle, hours etc. I see them post for jobs on occasion, mostly for their GL or other insurance practices.

The general vibe I've gotten from these firms (Rivkin Radler, Certilman Balin, etc.) is that you work 80% of biglaw hours for 50% of the pay.
