I have been having the worst health issues all summer. Anxiety over all thats happening to me and going to the hospital prevented me from studying for a few days. I am so angry. Also so angry about Illinois becoming UBE in June 2019. They purposely are waiting until June 2019 because they know if they make it for February all the examinees will gladly pay a $500 to change. Then, to transfer a score its $1250 say if I wanted to take UBE in another state in February. What do you recommend I do? Should I take Illinois now not feeling entirely prepared? Should I just not sit and take it in another state in February and transfer my score? Waiting until July will be too long. WTF!

What they are doing to this graduating class is beyond unfair. We had to pay the same amount of money that next year's graduates will pay. Then, we have to work twice as hard by remembering all the Illinois caveats to the law. Meanwhile, next year's class will only have to take an extra MPT rather than the stupid Illinois essays. I am so pissed. I have never been more angry at this profession!

I'm also sure the July 2018 test takers will just comply like idiots as all dumb as*es in this profession happily comply with these old pieces of sh*t who should have retired back in the 80s. These test takers should honestly sue. We should at the very least get a portion of our fees back or be allowed to take the UBE for free next July.

I've never been so enraged! I spent so much money. First, on the outrageous Illinois fee. Then, on Themis which helped me very little. Biggest waste of money. I wasted so much time watching lectures!

I CAN'T EVEN SLEEP TONIGHT I'M SO ANGRY!!!!!

so you're taking the same bar exam everyone in Illinois has had to take for many years.

It seems the entire sum of your anger is that some people in the future will take a different one?

Big deal? For some reason what happens to hypothetical people in the future has some bearing on you getting some gimmiedats now?

Seriously. Many of us passed state bars where we had to remember state law. Suck it up and deal with it like the rest of us did or wait it out without a job until you can take the exam with the UBE. Your choice. My guess is that most of the July test takers are not “idiots” because they want to practice right away instead of putting their loans into deferrals because they are unemployed as a result of being stubborn, but hey...

Another idiot who doesn't understand the concept of fairness like 90 percent of American autists in the legal profession. I had to pay nearly $1,000 (not counting fees for bar review) to take an exam which will only license me to work in one state. Meanwhile, next year's class will take an exam that licenses them in 30 states which is far easier to pass because they will not have to study a million caveats of state law!

It costs over a thousand to license by motion with a valid UBE. I got into Iowa and Nebraska with a Minnesota UBE. You pay every penny except (a) the test fee, and (b) the time value in not studying for another test. You need to do a full C&F, and in some cases take another MPRE

These states want their money. I will also let you know thar multi-state licensing is a nightmare. It never helped me get new jobs. Different states have different CLE demands. For example, Nebraska last I checked required in-person CLE but IN NEBRASKA ITSELF. Just ridiculous. I am inactive in NE and IA now. So it was useless in the end. Employers aren’t hiring out of staters who waived in with zero substantive experience. Clients aren’t hiring a guy in Minneapolis or Chicago to handle their divorce in Scottsbluff. So stick to IL.

The IL Bar sucks a lot. I feel for you. The essays are brutal.

This is what I am worried about. Last week of May, I spent a lot of time preparing for graduation and had family visiting. Then, I was really sick the past two weeks. I haven't focused enough on IL law. I am hoping I will save myself with MBE and MPT. I honestly do not feel confident at all. I know if this was UBE, I would already pass because it has two MPTs in place of IL essays. I actually enjoy doing MPT problems and the essay I was graded on was one of my best.

My MPRE is not an issue as I scored over 85. However, you are right about C&F. It will be a bit*h and embarrassing to get letters of recommendation from professors again. If I don't pass, I don't know what I will do. My only choices will be to take the IL bar in February and have to study like a dog again, take the UBE in another state in February and pay over 1k to transfer to IL, or wait until July 2019. Waiting until July 2019 is simply too long. I will forget so much material I learned in law school too.

If you are waiving in to another state or applying on a motion/taking an attorney exam, they aren’t going to require a recommendation from a professor as you’ve already passed a character and fitness exam in another state. In my home state where there is no attorney exam, no professor recommendations are required at all since they don’t expect a 50-year-old applying for licensure (as many have to do) to have contact with professors who are likely retired or dead already. I had a coworker who I think got licensed in his mid-50s. There is no way that his professors were working at that point and he was already licensed in three other states.

You are so dumb! This is not solely about the format of a test! This is about me having to pay the same amount of money as next year's class for a test that is worth way less! These people will be able to practice in 30 states and I will be limited to Illinois after studying twice as hard as they will have to study.

ALSO, IF I COULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE BAR IN 30 STATES WITH THIS SAME EXAM THAT TESTS ILLINOIS LAW, THAT WOULD BE FINE. HOWEVER, THATS NOT THE CASE!

Oh and this isn't just some hypothetical people in the future. This is next year's class! The bar examiners also knew the law would change. My professor who encouraged me to take this exam knew the law would change too. He fooled me by saying, Illinois takes forever to change rules. UBE is not coming here. This guy also works in career services and was more concerned about the school's bar passage rates than about facts. I had told him of my intention to take the February bar. He told me to rush and take July. I should have stuck with my February plan all along! I would have seen the rule change and just registered to take a UBE in another state. If I don't take this exam, I have to pay $500 to take it at a later date. SUCH BULLSHIT! IDIOTS IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION LIKE YOURSELF NEVER UNDERSTAND FAIRNESS. HENCE, WHY THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE HERE WILL NEVER BUILD A CLIENT BASE.

Stop worrying about Other People and focus on yourself. If it's going to make you this wavey-army and maudlin, just wait a year and take the bar then. This is stupid. If you can't handle this INJUSTICE without it causing 'the worst health issues,' I can guarantee you aren't cut out to practice law.
