I might be getting relocated to California's central coast. I don't plan on leaving my current employer, but I figure it's always good to have a finger on the pulse.

Does anyone know what that area's like in terms of law firms, etc.?

The Central Coast of California is arguably the most exacting legal job market in the country.

The bottom line is that every burned-out biglaw associate in both Northern and Southern California dreams of an idyllic small town practice in Monterey, Santa Barbara or SLO.

Consequently, the local firms are inundated with resumes from applicants with glowing credentials.

It is not unusual to see a Central Coast firm where the three partners went to non-ABA-approved local law schools and the four associates are all Harvard or Yale Law with law review.

Good luck.
