Xxx big bank recently made a pretty clear offer...deposit xx amount or more in a new savings account, maintain the balance for 90 days, and receive a $225 bonus. I did that, and now they're giving me bs about needing a "cupon code" or some such nonsense that was never described in the offer to get the bonus.

I'm about to change banks over this and was wondering if anyone else had their bank pull something similar.

When you signed up you almost certainly agreed to a class action waiver and arbitration clause too.

I think you can argue the waivers aren’t valid if they defrauded him. Unless the contract stated the offer was bologne, it seems like a bait and switch. Because it’s contract law, it is state specific, which makes a class action less viable. But 220 times 100,000 is lucrative enough to involve a decent firm.

Lol Banks are scummy if you are an average consumer heard of Wells Fargo?

CitiBank offered my mom checking and savings account with no fees for refinancing her mortgage.

Mom opened her account and six custodial accounts for her 6 kids. No fees for 5 years, then she got hit with $20 fees on each account every month.

Mom called, bank said lol wut? We will waive the fee if your kids keep $1500 in the account every month.

Yeah every big bank sucks and will pull crap like that from time to time. I'm not sure switching banks would do any good. I'm used to the fact that deposit requirements and fees can change at any time. But ffs, I got a ton of mail sent to my house about the offer and they straight up reneged.

I've gone twice in person to ask about the bonus and the bankers just blow smoke up my a** and either tell me the money is on its way, or they forgot to apply the coupon code at account setup. Money still not in account weeks later.

I think he was being sarcastic. Banks wrote the book on scum, most people know that by now. Mainly due to the fact that your small hometown bank was swallowed up long ago by some sizable regional bank that in turn got swallowed up by some nationwide bank. It's become a shared monopoly.
