Celebrating 10 years! 2007-2017

That terrifying feeling that you have sixty or so hours of craplaw hell ahead of you.

Good luck this week everyone. Keep eyes on the Exit sign. billcarson10/28/18

Look at it as gaining knowledge to start a mass-marketing mill. When I have 60 hours of family law in front of me, that's the only way I keep myself from getting depressed.

How many years have you been grinding? This week is year 4 for me. I am in a practice area more reviled than document review. Family Law is more stressful but you CAN end up making decent money.

The silliest decision I made was getting out of bed this morning (true for every day). The second silliest decision I made was getting a JD with zero idea what working in craplaw is like. Our best and brightest legal assistants come in preparing for LSAT and leave for non-JD jobs in state government.

I wouldn't say terrifying or even dread but I definitely wasn't looking forward to the work week this morning. I have 3 MSJs I need to respond to and am way behind on email and mail. I'd probably continue to do my job for less if I had to. I think the people who do best in this job have a sense of urgency yet, at the same time, don't really care. For me, I'm just socking away as much as I can in investments so that one day I can just go into my boss's office, shake his hand, and say, "Today was my last day."
