Name and song are underwhelming to be honest. Where is the emotion? Where is your soul man? It was basically delivered in robotic monotone and as the listener I lost interest. :0(

I didn't professionally record it, or have it mixed or mastered. So I did the best I could. I recorded both the verses all at once. Had I recorded each line individually, I think it would have came out better in terms of the vocals. But overall, for a first real song, I am proud of it. I give it a 7 out of 10. It was worthy of being released.

I used Audacity to record the song. It's a good free program. The $120 microphone is serviceable- but I found it hard to manipulate my voice the way i wanted to with it.

What I have been trying to explain to JDU is I can't constantly be releasing music unless it is top tier. I will ruin my reputation and it will be done with before I even get started. So the goal is to hit 6-7 home runs with the Drake stuff.

Does air conditioning affect your vocal cords? I know many non-rap singers avoid air conditioning.

This is maybe the reason why I can't sing/rap.

I think the uptempo nature of the beat caused my notes to be higher pitched than I wanted them to be. I want to rap with a deeper voice. Since I recorded the verses all at once, I couldn't be more deliberate and with a deeper voice for each line.

I have never heard of what you are saying. Explain it better. And I will better answer your question. I need A/C. I get hot easily and I live in Texas. Today it was 90 all day.

I had a job once where I came in contact with some higher profile singers. A good percentage of them would panic if the air conditioning was on. The believe it dries out their vocal chords.

I had really forgotten about it until today someone mentioned the were at a small command a big name singer refused to sing until they turned off the ac.

I never knew if there was anything to it.

I recorded the song at my local college with a $120 Best Buy microphone and a laptop in a well conditioned room. I drank a lot of water during its recording. I intentionally tried to manipulate my voice with short bursts of recording. It didn't work very well. I think it's the function of the microphone, not being in a real studio and not having my vocals manipulated by a professional engineer. It took me like 10 hours to record this, write the song, and do minor mixing to it I could figure out.

It's better than I expect, at least the second verse... I'll give credit where credit is due. The first verse and the chorus were pretty weak. The first verse sounded like you were trying to catch up with the song and just reading off a piece of paper. The shout out to Eminem in the chorus was a good fit for your style in the second verse. Very reminiscent of early Eminem.

STOP MAKING EXCUSES. It was not your microphone. A $120 microphone and a laptop is just as good, if not better than the microphones people were using in the 80s. Professional work may help a lot, but what you really need is practice. You sound extremely inexperienced and unsure of yourself. Cut the karaoke garbage out. You need to practice your own songs. If you want to practice with other people's songs you should do them in your own style.

You keep saying you're practicing other people's songs to help you discover what style fits best for you. That will never work. Even if you're able to replicate someone else's song perfect, doesn't mean you'll be able to adapt it to your own songs. You need to keep trying different styles with your own songs to figure out what feels natural.

It'll make your writing better too. You'll learn what sounds YOU are able to do well. You'll also find yourself needing to take out lyrics to fit the song tempo less often.

I took out words from the first verse. I should have left them and rapped it just as fast.

I'm not making excuses-- I am simply analyzing my own song outloud. I know the flaws the song has. I need to keep making music before releasing the Drake music first to continually improve. If I do, it will probably be to self analyze it.

Almost every major rapper had the same problems as me when they started making music. Biggie rapped high pitched in the first songs for Ready to Die; Jay-Z had tongue twisting flow in his first songs; Eminem rapped like Nas/AZ and was heavily criticized for it in the beginning.

So, like them, I am going through my own learning curve. It's all a process.

I couldn't finish listening to that because you couldn't stay on beat. I give you credit for this- your "dream" of rapping is one of the longest running trolls I've ever seen.
