Great movie, but Jesus Christ hindsight is 20/20 but Kevin Spacey is absolutely flaming. Did anybody ever think he was straight?

I have never seen a movie that has been so poorly adapted from the stage to the screen. It still feels like you’re watching a play. And not in a good way.

Classic movie about clique theory (Jack Lemmon is the perfect middle aged loser, imo). I read a couple of David Mamet's place and his dialogue is sublime for american theater. Waiting to read or see his play about Harvey Weinstein

A great movie that would never be made in today's political climate.

All male cast (and not for the sake of historical accuracy), homophobic insults that don't turn into teachable moments, etc. I suppose the movie could be made nowadays, but the Academy wouldn't touch it and the press would dismiss it out of hand.

Strangely enough I didnt notice that until you said it.

Theres only one woman in the movie, The asian coat lady, and I dont think she says a single word.

Don't forget the racism against Indians. Mamet actually had to rewrite the play and excise that portion so audiences wouldn't be so traumatized.

Agreed. A great one, instead. So many themes of note that illustrated the times and still do. A masterclass in dialogue and acting. I absolutely love it. Any movie that includes lines like "Oh you know, Dave, when you land a big one this place smells of your farts for a week with all you ingested," can't be bad. Just can't.
