Agree, but I think it's more a sad example of actual TDS*.

On a scale from 1 - 10 of how important and egregious this was, it's a 1.5. Still, it was headline news and a trending topic.

*People like plumber use this to describe every reaction to Trump that isn't a high praise, but I do think it's real. To certain people, Trump can do no right. To them, he is the broken clock that is somehow NEVER right, and it's the biggest news in the world every time he does something, anything.

Trump can do no right. But the broader point about not getting upset over it being the better approach is correct.

I think it says two things about Trump:

1. He is funny. His debate zingers were great. He sort of has an unintentional sense of humor - "The Trump Tower taco salad is the best - Happy CincoDeMayo" I think his humor has been a big factor in his rise - remember how he easily demolished Jeb Bush as low energy and couldn't negotiate out of paper bag. Speaking of bags, his takedown of Al Franken - "folded like a wet paper towel" was also a classic.

2. He's the real Trump. There's really no faking it (which is kind of scary). He's not going to softpedal on Santa Claus BS.

Demonizing trump for pulling us out of war? Occupation? Whatever? In Syria is another example of this.

I would imagine the best thing to do for our military bros is to break up our alliances, make our relationships with our neighbors more hostile, blow up the deficit with tax cuts, add a trade war, and shutdown the government.

So I think what eagleton is saying is that We need more American casualties in the next war.

Still have your Russian passport eagleton?

If we are gonna say Santa is bs why do we have to say merry Xmas? Just tell the kid G-d is a big fat lie too. Trump definitely is an atheist at heart and if he comes out against religion he will have me forever.

Yeah, this is TDS. I wonder if the parents are even upset? If they are, they are idiots. Why did they have their kid talk to trump about Santa in the first place? Predictable that he would say something like this.

Marginal is actually appropriate for a 7 year old believing in Santa.

Another president, though, wouldn't say that to a kid on X'mas. The reasonable man wouldn't really say that. That said, I don't care about the Trump's Santagate. I actually agree with his statement there.

I'm not gonna raise my kid believing in Santa or the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy.

That's so funny. it's easy to say that when it comes to your kids, but most of the time parents tend to fold quickly on crap like this...self included. Kids want to believe and have a big immagination...it takes a lot of willpower to deny them that.

When I was a kid, my parents were really into Santa Claus. This was great because we had some cool Christmas experiences. My sister went overboard with Santa too, encouraging her kids to believe past age 7 or 8. I did the Santa thing with my kids but I never encouraged it or tried to convince them about Santa once they had doubts. At some level, you are tricking your kids and I think there is a balance between a great Christmas experience and honesty.

Yeah exactly, I tried it at first, but it seems like childhood would not be exciting or memorable without these lies/traditions.

Something seems to get lost in making your kid study for tests all the time instead of be a kid
