They really shouldn't be allowed in until they join a conference and play a real schedule. They would've had 4 losses if they were in the SEC. Same thing when they made the title game a few years back.

Yeah ND should start playing SEC teams like LSU (who they beat last year) or Georgia (who they lost to by 1 point last year).

Clemson’s schedule wasn’t that great...the ACC being terrible outside of Clemson and Syracuse is why ND is undefeated.

What a pounding Notre Dame is taking, GA Bulldogs are turning over in their graves. Clemson is missing their best (I think) defensive lineman and are nearly pitching a shutout.

This will have an impact on next year moving forward, you can't take these ND-type teams seriously against big-time programs with NFL first-rounders all over the field.

What planet are you from with this talk of "ND-type teams" having to prove themselves?

An undefeated Notre Dame will ALWAYS get a playoff spot. It's about butts in seats and eyeballs on the screen. In that regard, Notre Dame is in a class by itself

polkhighrb (Dec 30, 2018 - 1:03 pm)

Well, we'll see. The memory of a 30-3 beatdown may be fresh in the committee's minds next year.

Is ND really getting more eyeballs and seats sold than an Ohio St team (for example)? Maybe a bit more, but those other brands are big too (obviously not UCF).

Notre Dame had a more difficult schedule than Clemson. Stanford, USC and Michigan are tough matchups in general.

If Georgia is so superior to ND then why did they lose to LSU by 20?

Or maybe ND couldn't compete with LSU either (except that ND beat LSU last year).

Georgia ND this year would be close just like it was last year when Georgia beat ND by 1 point.

Fact is Clemson played lights out and they and and Bama are clearly the two best teams in the country. There is a reason those two teams have taken up 7 out of the last 8 championship game spots.

They had a solid schedule on paper prior to the season and definately whenever they agreed to these games.

-Michigan
-Syracuse
-FSU
-USC
-Pitt
-Stanford
-Virginia Tech

They beat some good teams this year and laid an egg yesterday. It happens.

I doubt they ever make the playoffs again until they join a conference unless they have multiple wins over top 10 teams with at least one being away from South Bend. They just aren't going to get the benefit of the doubt ever again.

Other times one could have said this:

-After their 9-2 2000 team was blown out in the Fiesta Bowl
-After their 2002 team (once ranked in the top 10) was beat handily in the Gator Bowl by a lower ranked NC State team.
-After their 2005 team (9-2, ranked no. 5) had no real traction against no. 4 OSU in the Fiesta Bowl.
-After their vaunted, once no. 2 in the nation 2006 team got absolutely pummeled by LSU in the Fiesta Bowl.
-After their celebrated 2012 team navigated the schedule perks to being undefeated only to get pummeled by Bama in the national title game.
-After their 2015 team lost to the two best teams on its schedule, STILL was ranked in the top 10 and got invited to the Fiesta Bowl (again) and lost (again) to OSU.

They need to play the rigors of a real conference schedule. In the B1G or the ACC, this does not happen.

There is a 75 percent chance that a 2 loss SEC team is much much better than ND> Can the committee remember the last 2 times these dogs were in the playoff. 2 blowouts. Losing to GA in week 1 last year at home dont mean anything. They had 6 months to prepare for that game and still lost. If they played in the playoff GA wins by 3 tds. NO more ND in playoff until they prove themselves. 10-1. 11-1 is a joke when all the ACC teams USC and Stanford stink. Why dont they play LSU in mid Oct? In mid seaseon they stick to Wake Navy and Syracause. Omg!

Kick Missouri, South Carolina, and Arkansas out of the SEC.

Add Ohio State, Clemson, and Florida State.

Have the new SEC secede, let them give players a cash stipend, and disband the rest of college football.

Tired of watching these garbage bowl games.
