oh so now the GOP bozo bus for presidential candidates in 2020 is gonna start taking on passengers after the Dems have "weakened" Trump enough for them to get up the courage to show some guts and be critical of the God King aka Trump? laughable and pathetic all rolled into one, for real -- get 'em outta here, the place is stunk up enough, let Trump take on the Democratic candidate by himself

The estabishment THOSE THAT WANT NADA TO CHANGE speaks. The establishment shills exist on both sides of the aisle. Bush, clinton, bloomberg. Trump alone has, get this, arrested the inevitable growth of china AND put OPEC on all fours.

Meh I gotta give credit where its due. For whatever reason the Republican Party has not fallen in lock step behind Trump. Many of the prominent leaders of the Republican Party have openly disagreed with Trump, including generals with really conservative views. I dare say fellow Republicans have been the number one impediment to Trump actually achieving any of his idiotic goals.

Just because Romney is the prototype corporate elitist scum doesn't necessarily mean he's wrong.

I like the idea of Romney or Kasich or any other Republican challenging trump. I don't know if it will work, but it seems good for democracy to me.

Brian Sandoval. He’s not my cup of tea policy-wise, but a moderate Hispanic Governor from a purple state whose also a formal federal judge would be really good for the GOP.

No. Last I heard he said he was sitting out 2018. There was talk of him running in 2016. I’m trying to convince him to run by sending him good thoughts.

Lol, future Wikipedia has Kaisch and Sandoval trying to primary Trump. But it also has Trump winning and Warren accepting the Green Party nomination. Lol. That’s not going to happen.

This is one genuine instance, god forbid, of fake news.
Romney's op-ed would be interesting, but for the fact that Romney hasn't taken a principled stand, ever, regarding Trump. During the primaries, he gave a speech calling Trump a "phony" and a "fraud" then pivoted nicely, thank you, to abject groveling when Trump played him into thinking that Trump was seriously considering Romney for secty of state. It was truly embarrassing to watch, as Romney made it clear he was willing to put whatever principles he had into a blind trust to get the job. My recollection was multiple meetings, photo ops...and then no job.
So Romney, with Potomac fever, decides he wants to be US Senator from the great state of Utah, so he goes groveling back to Trump for his endorsement, and they have a press conference after Trump agrees(I'd love to have a recording of the vacuous flattery Romney bestowed upon Trump at the pre-endorsement meeting).
So Romney gets elected, waits two months until just before he gets sworn in, and again says bad things about Trump. My guess is he sees himself as a one-term Senator, but even if not, knows he won't need Trump's endorsement again.
So he's a rank hypocrite, like just about every other politician.
My prediction is he'll be just like Jeff Flake-make periodic pronouncements about Trump's bad behavior, condemning same of course, and then vote with him 95% of the time.

Back to baseline; he'll criticize Trump when he's feeling neglected by the press, but vote with Trump about 100% of the time. So he's supporting the shutdown now; if it drags on for months that will change. All those tourists wanting to see the many national parks will be pretty upset-and not spending $$$ in Utah-if the parks stay closed. The junior senator won't support the shutdown then.
