So if Justice Ginsberg finally rides off into the sunset, Mr. "Art Of The Deal" Trump could get $5B or probably even $18B for his big, beautiful wall simply by agreeing to nominate Judge Garland.

I’m not sure what is causing the problem, but there’s something in posting about RGB that the comment interface doesn’t like.

I want to see Garland because I want to see what lefties meant by centrist. I assume they meant he was a centrist like Sotomayor.

The media said that he was a pick that wouldn't have been surprising under Obama or Bush... mainstream people that dont follow Judges took that to mean "centrist."

He’s a centrist in all the wrong ways. He’s pro-law enforcement, pro-executive, and he’s pro-administrative state deference. He’s basically Breyer 2.0.

I’d jump on that deal if I were the Dems. 5 billion dollars for a moderate liberal justice who has a boner for the administrative state? No brainer. Garland could serve 20 years. And Trump will probably appoint Barrett who is probably more conservative than Kavanaugh.

Agree. It will take 10 years to build the wall, so Congress can just defund it before the design is done.

Here's a better compromise. Trump gets no wall money but Repubs get another massive tax break for the ultra wealthy, they gut the epa and planned parenthood, Trump gets to fire his own fed chairman, and we burn all 7th grade science books. I'm pretty sure the GOP is going to try to do all that stuff anyways

Let's stop pretending funding for the wall isn't the line in the sand for both parties, anything less isn't a real compromise. One party is going to win and the other will lose, I don't favor Trump's chances right now
