I don’t have a problem with it. If you believe in vigorous campaign finance laws, you can’t start exempting categories of expenses from appropriate expenditure. Otherwise you’re allowing people to gift politicians unlimited money for things in those exemptions.

What does surprise me is that these are a lawful use of campaign funds when they were expended AFTER he had resigned and was not seeking office. But I admittedly have zero experience with campaign finance law beyond first amendment scotus cases.
