Even if it became a military conflict, you cant compare the VC to modern day leftist Venezuelan (or anyone in the Western Hemisphere).

The "conflict" wouldn't last a week.

Laying by a pool and driving a convertible around So Flo doesn't exactly indicate
they are ready to fight to the death in the jungle for freedom like the Vietnamese.

Don’t be so sure. Heavy jungles in an area full of people with paramilitary and guerilla warfare experience. How long did the FARC harass Colombia? 40 years?

True, but the US lent support here, nothing more. Also, I've heard argument the Gov't needed and kept them up.

If Venezuela were a true 'Vietnam' with US troops landing, it would be nothing like Vietnam is all I'm saying. Most Venezuelans vividly remember (not long ago) when they were the richest country in LATAM, and they want to go back to that.
