She’s a terrible candidate for one of the same reasons Trump is a terrible candidate. They both attack capitalism as the source of America’s economic problems.

She's said any number of times she's a capitalist and wants America to remain a capitalist nation. She attacks the source of the problem (wealthy individuals and corporations who stack the deck and pervert capitalism) as the source of the problem.

Reply
anotherjd (Feb 9, 2019 - 3:33 pm)

Capitalism as practiced in the USA has issues. When the richest of the rich own everything and working class lives paycheck to paycheck that's a problem

Reply
tedandlisa123 (Feb 9, 2019 - 3:46 pm)

It’s all paper wealth. There are only so many homes and cars that Oprah can own. It’s not like Oprah and her ilk own 75% of the land mass in the country. The working class in this country with their IPhones, Golden Corral buffets, and Carnival Cruises live far better than most people in this world. Until the elite start to confiscate those things, people aren’t going to choose Venezuelan Warren socialism. People can see the alternative and it’s not pretty.

Also, I think class warfare rhetoric is DOA still in America. Too many temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

The left needs to put out ideas and defend them rather than keep doing something that many on the right and in the middle will just call "whining" and "communism."

They’re mostly putting out ideas and defending them. Bernie Sanders and AOC, for example. The right will call anything whining and just say “muh, Venezuela!” to everything. But the ideas are there.

She comes across as a slightly less corrupt version of Hillary. I don’t want to see Trump re-elected, but if this is the candidate Democrats run, I’d rather cast a ballot for Johnson or whatever dolt the libertarians run.

Biden is the only plausible person who can challenge Trump. However experienced the other Dems are, he is the only one who passes the “would you have a beer with this guy” test.

Im curious who Frida supports. As left as she seems, I think shes pretty much in the dead center of the democratic party.

Reply
frida2 (Feb 9, 2019 - 6:46 pm)

I haven't decided yet, but I'm voting for a woman. Doesn't mean I'd be super disappointed if a man wins, I'm mostly just definitely voting for a female because I want the misogynists to quit the Democratic party (or change their point of view). I'm probably just going to vote for whichever female does best in Iowa and New Hampshire. Maybe I'll wait for South Carolina results. California votes in the first super Tuesday and I usually vote early.

I'm only on the left when it comes to gender and race equality. I'm pretty moderate on economic issues and everything except racial and gender equality. But I am really tired of the rich getting richer. Income inequality keeps rising.

AOC actually makes me a little nervous. I love the way she owns the trumplicans though. One thing AOC said a couple days ago that was a relief -- she says she's not endorsing anyone until the day of the NY primary. I was relieved to hear that.

Yeah, right...NOTHING scares the devil incarnate. Trump has been hanging out with dictators, assassins, and mobsters his ENTIRE life. You seriously think a little faker like Warren, spewing cheap applause lines at a rally, will "rattle or scare him"?? He has BIGGER worries: Mueller, NY DA's investigation.

Reply
catwoman333 (Feb 10, 2019 - 10:24 pm)

IMO, it's SEXIST (and pretty retro) to vote for (or against) someone SOLELY because of their sex, without regard to their views/positions on issues.

Total speculation, of course, but what if Joni Ernst or Marsha Blackburn were running against a progressive male in a general election?? Would you vote for them because they're women??

Reply
frida2 (Feb 11, 2019 - 6:32 pm)

I care about Democratic unity more than specific policy. I think most Democrats feel that way. This is why I'm not committing to anyone and will vote for the female front runner after the first four states. And of course I prefer Democratic men over Republican women. But I want the Democratic party to reach about 50% female. It doesn't matter to me if people think this is sexist.

Agreed. This coy "I'm thinking about it" is just a lame PR stunt. How many "nobodys" have said that and then followed up with an equally stupid "Well...after much thought...I've decided not this time" announcement. Nothing but sad attention-seekers, and the media accommodates them by lapping up every stupid utterance.

"Income inequality keeps rising."

When I hear statements like this, it tells me republicans are not doing a good enough job education people about economic reality.

What is keeping the lower rung people from rising? a. nothing. America the land of opportunity.

Why is their an income gap? a. take a look at taxes, fees, permits, licenses, in general costs to run a business. Especially in Ca.

People with money are mobile. Sure you impose more taxes, fees, etc on them but they have the ability to move. Take a look at NY. Mayor announces a shortfall in tax revenue. hmm.

I think more people on both sides are getting fed up with all of the bickering and petty bs on both sides and may surprise you again like they did with Trump.
Good luck.
